Category Spending V2

This insight prompts a user to create a spending limit when spending in a category is growing significantly.

  • This insight appears based on the following requirements and triggers.

    Requirements:

    • A transaction must meet all of the attributes below in order for this insight to be generated:
      • This insight is generated only when a minimum of three months of historical data is available for the user.
      • For each category, the system calculates the weighted average of monthly spending. Categories with no spending are ignored.
      • When generated in the first 10 days of the month, the insight looks at up to six months of data ending on the previous month. When generated on the 11th day of the month and later, the beat looks at up to six months of data ending on the current month. In either case, the most recent month is referred to below as the "subject month."
      • The subject month's spending for each category is compared to historical weighted averages.
      • Insights are generated for users that have at least one category with at least a 10 percent increase.
        • Categories are limited to top-level expense categories (all top-level categories excluding INCOME, INVESTMENTS, TAXES, TRANSFER, and UNCATEGORIZED).
